Review: The Yorkshire Vaper - Peach Custard

This was bought by me at my local B&M, Key Vapours in Merthyr, at the discounted price of £10. Available online at theyorkshirevaper.co.uk for £11.99 - this is for 30mls.

Tested on an istick 50w with a Kangertech Subtank Pro with 0.5ohm stock coil. Ratio is 80vg/20pg, I used 3mg nic.

Described on their website: "Ever tried juicing a peach? Breaking it down to its lovely sweet liquid form? We have! And my god is it good!

It's even better when spooned and folded into a creamy custard to create the perfect Peach Custard blend."

Packaging - basic but effective, nicely squeezy plastic bottle (I'm aware I go on about this a lot but as I suffer neuropathic pain and muscle weakness in my hands, a bottle that's tricky to squeeze is the bane of my life!) with printed label featuring a ram, plus all the relevant info. Nozzle tip easy to use to fill a tank.

Vaping - true to their word, this is juicy and peachy. Very much a tinned-peach taste versus a tangy fresh peach, but this is precisely what I wanted, being a fan of the old tinned peach. Custard is more of a delicate creme anglaise than a full on thick vanilla confection - definitely comes in secondary to the peach, and is more of a prop to add a creamy sweetness to the vape. It's quite a subtle one, this, very different to the in your face lime of the key lime cheesecake from the same range. Not an adv for me, as I prefer a more assertive flavour, but one I'd buy again nonetheless, because it wraps you in soft comforting sweetness, it's actually almost soothing. A bit like a bowl of tinned peaches and runny custard for pudding round your Nan's. Yummy yummy yummy.

Review: The Yorkshire Vaper - Key Lime Cheesecake

I was given an atty full of this to try by m'lovelies Warren and Lewis at Key Vapours, Merthyr. I was interested to see how it compared to Deluxe Vapours KLC which I love.

Tested in a Kanger Subtank Pro with a 0.5 ohm stock coil on an iStick50w, at 3mg nic, ratio is 80vg/20pg.

This juice hits you in the face with really sharp sugary limey kick - it reminds me of Roses lime cordial. it's especially prominent at lower wattages, take it up a few notches and it's balanced by a crisp biscuitty warmth and a slight burnt sugar flavour, reminiscent of a brulee topping. Throat hit is mild, vapour production is naturally impressive due to high VG content, as is the flavour hit. Found my sweet spot at about 25w.

I liked this juice a lot, and haven't been able to put it down all morning, but I don't agree that it's a cheesecake flavour - I'm not getting the creaminess that I picked up from the Deluxe vapours version, which is a softer flavour. That's not to say io don't like it - I do! - but I'd describe it as a lime shortbread rather than a cheesecake. I definitely get the punchy lime juice and that biscuit/butter pastry flavour, but zero philadelphia. I would definitely buy it again though, it's different enough to be worth having in rotation with it's cheesecakier rival from Deluxe.

Review: Deluxe Vapours - Red Beard

I was very kindly given some samples of the Deluxe Vapours range by the Deluxe guys, via the fabulous Warren of Key Vapours in Merthyr Tydfil. I'm not affiliated with them, though I'm a customer of Warren's.

Their juices are available at the Deluxe Vapours shop in Llanelli, at Key Vapours, and at The Vapour Den shops in Brecon, Aberdare and Pontypridd. They're also online at deluxevapours.co.uk.

I tested the Cloud Sauce juices, at 80/20 vg/pg, there's also a standard range at 40/60 vg/pg but the guys can custom mix your preferred ratio if you ask.

Packaging is simple, in long slim bottles that post well, but the labels look good, with the DV Mexican sugar skull logo. Caps are secure, filling nozzle nicely sized for filling, bottles are nice and squeezy! Happily survived being bashed about in my overfilled handbag for days with no leaks. Some of the regular juices also come in shorter stumpy bottles that look equally good.

Juices tested in a Kanger Subtank Plus with 0.5 ohm coil on an eleaf iStick 50w. They were all 6mg nic.

Next up for sampling - Red Beard!

I really like this sweet, sticky vape. It's a strawberry marshmallow, and it instantly reminded me of those marshmallow sweets filled with strawberry goo - tell me I'm not the only one who remembers those?? If you like jammy marshmallow tea cakes, you'll love this juice.

At lower wattages it's a really light delicate taste - almost candy-flossy. Cranking up to higher wattages it rounds out with that rich jammy goodness and creamy marshmallow exhale. It feels good in the mouth - substantial and satisfying, almost as good as chewing on an actual mallow (maybe better given the absence of calories) .

Deluxe have knocked another one out of the park!

First up for review is the Keylime Cheesecake, which is a top seller. Smells gorgeously limey, had my mouth watering as I filled up my tank!

Started it off at 20w working up to 35w. I am seriously in love with this juice. At lower wattages I got a creamy soft lime in the inhale with butter and biscuit/pastry on the exhale but the higher I cranked it up the zingier the lime got and the more it featured in the exhale, at 35w it's actually quite tongue-tingly and fizzy, without being too sharp or harsh. Mild throat hit given I was lung-hitting 6mg, but enough to satisfy - it's a really smooth vape and could easily be an ADV for me.

Cloud production is impressive, I'm still new enough to subohming for this to make me gleeful, and it leaves a lovely lingering smell in my front room!

I've got Strawberry cupcake, sour apple and Red Beard still to try so I'll update as I sample them all.

Welcome

Starting up a blog less than two months into a new hobby is a bit of a bold move, I'll give you that.  I don't want you to think I'm setting myself up as some kind of expert - I like to run before I can walk but I'm still a baby vaper, and quite proud of my novice status.

I've set this blog up because I love to write and review, and because whilst I'm not a technical expert I still think I have something to offer the vaping community by sharing my opinions.  Hopefully this blog will track my progress and adventures in vaping, and prove interesting along the way!

I started vaping in July 2015, having decided to kick the cigarettes forever.  I successfully quit almost ten years ago, when pregnant with my daughter, but stress due to a full on degree course and the loss of my mum last year drove me back to smoking and I was back on 20 a day by January this year.  I realised I needed something to replace not only the nicotine but the habit, and after several friends quit using e-cigarettes I decided to give them a go.

My first kit was cheap and flimsy, and whilst I was captivated by vaping I was less enamoured with my equipment,  A play about with a friend's kit led me to buy my initial setup, a Curve2/iStick 30w which I use with a Kangertech Protank 3.  Within a few weeks I added an iStick50w and Kangertech Subtank Pro, having been struck by shiny-itis and a desire to give sub-ohming a go.  I also have a Joyetech eGrip, my natty little precious which is ideal for stealth vaping.

I'm planning on plenty of juice reviews, some musings, some equipment reviews when I can afford to add to my collection... just lots of vaping related ramblings.  Glad to have you along for the ride.

PS - The Rainbow Vaper refers to my ever-changing hair colour - it's currently teal.  I'm liking it!
